This is Part 1 of our two-part series.
Part 1 explores earthing and grounding of the human body and its scientifically observed benefits.
Part 2 will cover precision earthing with essential oils and how specific oils enhance grounding.
For over three years, we at Tejasvani have been providing earthing mattresses, pillows, and under-feet mats to help people integrate grounding into their daily lives.
Understanding Inflammaging
Chronic inflammation is now recognized as a key driver of many age-related diseases such as cancer, heart disease, dementia, arthritis, and more. This slow, persistent inflammation is known as “inflammaging.”
Reducing whole-body inflammation may:
lower cancer and heart disease risk
improve cognition
protect joints
reduce pain
slow biological aging
Multiple medical studies now show that grounding significantly reduces inflammation.

Evidence from Research
One study found nearly a 60% drop in C-reactive protein (CRP)—a major marker of whole-body inflammation—after grounding.
Grounding also reduces inflammatory cytokines such as:
IP-10
MIP-1α
sP-Selectin
A double-blind study showed grounded subjects experienced a 10–20% decrease in these cytokines compared to non-grounded controls.
Grounding & Joint Health
Grounding reduces inflammation not only internally but also in joints. Studies and clinical observations report:
reduced joint pain
improved mobility
less stiffness
better walking comfort
In a double-blind study:
74% of grounded subjects sleeping grounded for one month reported reduced back and joint pain
0% of the sham-grounded group experienced relief

Grounding Protects Muscle Mass (Sarcopenia Prevention)
Why Muscle Loss Matters
Sarcopenia—age-related muscle loss—begins around age 40 and accelerates by 80.Muscle mass is vital for:
balance
coordination
strength
fall prevention
stem cell regeneration
Exercise alone isn’t enough to prevent sarcopenia. Grounding may offer a deeply supportive solution.
Muscle Benefits of Grounding
Studies show grounding:
reduces muscle tension within milliseconds
lowers cortisol after exercise
decreases creatine kinase (less muscle damage)
improves recovery speed
reduces soreness
boosts blood flow
In one study, grounded subjects doing 200 deep knee bends had no rise in creatine kinase, while ungrounded subjects showed significant muscle damage.
Another sleep-grounding study after a downhill treadmill challenge found creatine kinase levels in grounded subjects were half of ungrounded subjects by day 10.
Grounding Supports Bone Density
Osteopenia and osteoporosis affect nearly one-third of the world’s population.
A double-blind study showed that just one night of sleep grounding reduces:
calcium excretion
phosphorus excretion
This means fewer minerals are leached from bones—suggesting grounding may help protect bone density.
Grounding Improves Sleep Quality
Sleep quality strongly influences:
cognitive health
memory
mood
rate of biological aging
stem cell regeneration
Grounding has been shown to:
normalize cortisol
reduce stress
reduce pain
improve sleep architecture
help people fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer
A study on Alzheimer’s patients with mild cognitive impairment found grounding significantly improved sleep scores.
Grounding & Cognitive Function
Grounding may support brain function through multiple mechanisms:
1. Lowering Neuroinflammation
Inflammation lowers dopamine, contributing to:
low motivation
low mood
slowed cognition
Grounding reduces cytokines linked to dopamine regulation, resulting in mood and cognitive improvements.
2. Immediate Brain-Wave Shifts
EEG studies show grounding:
increases alpha brain waves within milliseconds
enhances calmness
boosts creativity
supports focus
3. Brain–Earth Electrical Coherence
Researchers discovered coherence between Earth’s Schumann resonance and human brain waves—especially in the parahippocampal gyrus, critical for:
memory
understanding context
decision-making
This region is one of the first affected in Alzheimer’s. Grounding may help preserve its function.

Grounding Promotes Skin Health
Skin aging is affected by:
inflammation
decreased collagen
reduced perfusion
slower wound repair
Grounding boosts circulation almost instantly—studies show grounding through the feet increases blood flow in the face.
What Grounding Does for Skin
increases oxygen and nutrient delivery
improves wound repair
enhances keratinocyte healing (cell repair)
supports collagen alignment
reduces RBC clumping (improves blood velocity by 260%)
Grounding also enhances sleep quality, which strongly improves collagen integrity—making “beauty sleep” scientifically real.
Conclusion (Part 1)
Grounding offers wide-ranging benefits supported by emerging research:
✔ reduces inflammation
✔ supports joint health
✔ protects muscle mass
✔ may prevent bone mineral loss
✔ improves sleep
✔ supports cognitive function
✔ enhances circulation and skin health
In Part 2, we will explore:
how precision earthing works
how specific essential oils deepen grounding
why the combination is more effective than grounding alone
